Let’s talk about hoop earrings!
For some people hoop earrings never really went out of style. However, for the fashion industry there have definitely been waves when the accessory reached all-time highs and all-time lows.
Now, we can go all the way back to the ancient times when hoop earrings were invented and were all the rage, but let’s just stick to the 1990s and early 2000s (A.K.A. when most of us were actually alive)!
Practically anyone who was anyone wore hoop earrings back in the 1990s and early 2000s. From little hoops and big hoops to studded hoops and plain hoops, hoop earrings were EVERYTHING! I remember wearing hoop earrings with practically every outfit I pieced together just because they were the hottest trend on the market!
However, after some time, hoop earrings were slowly being replaced with more statement earrings like designer studs, pearls and colorful stones. Hoop earrings (especially large ones) carried a trashy, less sophisticated connotation as compared to dainty studs as time went on.
But, all you hoop lovers, have no fear of being considered less than the most elegant, as your all-time favorite accessory is back in trend!! It’s like society and the fashion industry completely went back in time, making your coveted earrings fashion it girls best accessory all thanks to trailblazing designers.
If you have yet to notice, literally anyone who is anyone is wearing hoop earrings again!
If I am completely honest, I was very hesitant when this trend came back in style, recalling those now dreaded days in which I wore chunky hoops as if it were nobody’s business. But, to my surprise, I slapped on a pair of my mom’s classy gold hoops while on vacation and I fell back in love with the style, as they instantly completed the look and added a bit of edge and sophistication to my otherwise bare minimal look!

I have always loved hoop earrings! They can actually accentuate the shape of your face. Circular hoops can make an oval face appear rounder whereas, oval hoops can make a round face appear more oval!
