BETTER NOW/BETTER THEN!?!

CROP THAT TOP

I cannot believe that I have yet to post a “Better Now/Better Then!?!” surrounding the comeback of everyone’s favorite midriff-baring top; the crop top!

For most of us young teeny boppers at the time, the trend became highly popularized in the 1990s thanks to the world’s biggest stars, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, etc. Recalling back to Spears’ “Baby One More Time” music video, as she transformed the classic school girl uniform into a good girl gone bad look featuring a cropped white button up, I remember literally EVERYONE wanting to steal the singer’s look.

The trend only continued on from there, as celebrities of the 1990s and early 2000s broke skin-baring boundaries by rocking the now classic top on red carpets, television and well…practically everywhere. However, many may argue that the crop top did not become popularized as an everyday essential until the early supers like Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Tyra Banks made the crop top a staple of their everyday wardrobe.

Now, top models and celebrities alike are taking the crop top to new heights, LITERALLY. And naturally, we’re all following the trend. While some tend to keep their shirts to belly button level or below, others are cropping their tops higher and higher, making it very difficult to differentiate between what is now considered a bra and a crop top. This may not have been socially acceptable decades ago, however, this generation is clearly bracing on to the crop top and loving every second of the long-lived trend!

But, what do you think!?! Do you love the crop top or do you think we as a society should take on more of the conservative approach as our predecessors did??

I personally LOVE a good crop top! However, all in good taste of course!
