There’s something about the holiday season that forces us to neglect ourselves and put all of our focus on others. Perhaps, it’s the giving nature of the holidays, the constant hustle and bustle, or perhaps, we just get in too deep! Over the holiday break, I noticed this neglect with one area in particular; my skin! I continued my daily acne treatment regimine and used the same products recommended by my dermatologist, however, my skin felt more dehydrated than ever. For the first time in a long time, my acne wasn’t the issue. I was simply not putting enough care into it than it needed. And boy did it let me know. It was clearly time for
a little a lot of TLC!
Therefore, yesterday I set out to find new products that would refresh and rehydrate my skin, as we all know, caring for your skin at a young age is one of the most important things to do for a future of beautiful skin. I came across Clarins Super Restorative Day Collection. I’ve used Clarins’ products before and knew it had no effect on sparking acne so I was excited to try the products as my skin has appeared clearer than ever recently.
I began my day routine by washing my face with my regular CeraVe cleanser and followed with Clarins Super Restorative Replenishing Comfort Mask. The mask contains ingredients like Mango Oil, Shea Butter and Pueraria Lobata, which work together to nourish weakened skin and leave the skin with a healthy-looking glow. When I first applied this product, I immediately noticed several features that made me hesitant to leave it on for 10 minutes. For one, the mask contains a very floral smell. For those of us who have sensitive skin, products with fragrance are usually a no go as the ingredients can cause breakouts. The mask was also extremely different from any I’ve tried before as it seemed to be absorbed by the skin over time rather than creating a firm layer on top of the skin to wash off after. However, all of my worries were swept away by the product after the required 10 minutes. The mask was rather smooth on the skin and it’s absorbing technique felt as though my skin was actually being replenished with loads of nutrients. I am definitely going to give this product another try today!
I then followed the restorative mask with Clarins Toning Lotion, which is suggested to use to remove any excess of the mask instead of washing with water like many other masks. (Again, another major difference!) The toning lotion was possibly one of the more disappointing products out of the three as the active ingredients – Camomile, Sunflower and Linden extracts – intend soothe irritations and leave the skin soft and smooth. Out of all of the products, this one left my skin feeling the most dry. Bare in mind, I applied my topical acne cream, ACZONE, immediately after the toning lotion. As an acne cream, it’s ingredients are drying in nature, however, I was not quite ready to take the risk! Therefore, it’s definitely worth a second try!
Clarins Super Restorative Day Cream finished off my routine. Like the mask, this product contained a very strong floral scent. However, I especially liked the way the cream felt on the face. Though very thick in texture, the cream also seemed to absorb into the skin leaving a light and smooth consistency to the skin. Don’t get me wrong, you could definitely feel the moisturizer on the skin, however, it wasn’t overpowering like many other thick creams. As it’s been nearly 24 hours after trying each product and there are no signs of breakouts, I am certainly going to use these products on repeat, hoping they visibly replenish and illuminate the skin as they claim to!
