All Eyes On You

Fashion week after fashion week, Milanese designers never fail to deliver designs we covet to wear on a daily basis. However, when it comes to their hair and makeup trends, some tend to miss the mark.

Sure, both Moschino’s spiked liner, bright lips, and big hair as well as Prada’s gold lip and naked eyes possess creativity and innovation, but the beauty trends lack serious practicality and daily wear value.

Searching for the perfect look for Spring 2016, we set out to recreate three makeup looks based off of the collections of Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016. To our surprise, it was much easier than we thought, to find makeup trends that could be worn straight off the runway and onto the streets.

Typically, designers pack extreme designs onto models’ flawless skin or rather apply much too little. This season, however, the Italian’s seemed to have reached a happy medium as they debuted looks that the everyday women (like us) could achieve.

Top Three Beauty Trends From Milan Fashion Week 2016

1. The Fairytale Chaser

Dolce, Gabbana, and Cinderella?

The brand’s latest collection for the Autumn/Winter 2016 season was a true fairytale fantasy with endless references to Disney princesses, Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, sweeping the runways.

The most prominent reference of course, was the makeup, as models were transformed into fairytale princesses with flawless skin, rosy cheeks, bright pink lips, and soft-winged eyeliner.

Behind the magical story telling, we found this look perfect for the spring season, especially for those who prefer a more simple beauty routine.

It’s princess-chic; soft, delicate, and just the right amount of pink.

Merino’s Makeup Tip: If you happen to make a mistake while applying the eyeliner or any other product, use a q-tip and Vaseline to simply erase any errors.

2. The Coachella Expert

When it comes Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Ultra, fashion always prevails as the defining force of festivals.

However, this season it may be worthwhile to focus more on your beauty look and less on your outfit. Just take notes from Fendi’s Autum/Winter 2016 fashion show, which featured intricately detailed eyes of vibrant shadows and swirls.

Although we recognize that mint green, sky blue, and purple covered eyes may not be the most practical everyday eye look, we found it to be one of our favorite looks to recreate.

Its creative, electric, and spontaneous; every thing you want to be during festival season!

So, if you truly want to make your eyes pop at Coachella, give this look a try! We doubt you would be disappointed.

Merino’s Makeup Tip: To increase the pigmentation of any eye shadow, spray your brush with a setting spray before applying the shadow.

3. The Risk Taker

Versace may have intended for the classic “Donatella Smokey Eye” to be the hottest beauty trend of Autumn/Winter 2016, as models strutted down the runway in the eye popping look during Milan Fashion Week, however, we have other plans for the smokey eye.

Paired with variations of pastel and neon-colored silhouettes and contrasting with the softness of a pink, nude lip and bronzed cheeks, the dark look may just be this spring’s hottest beauty staple.

Although we typically stray away from all things smokey, we particularly liked the risk taking, edgy vibe created by this beauty trend.

The look could be perfect for spring festivals, concerts, and nights out on the town as it adds an edginess to any spring out.

So go ahead, take a risk this spring and rock your best smokey eye!

Merino’s Makeup Tip: Wear the smokey eye solely on the top lid rather than bringing it under the lower lash line to credit a more everyday, wearable look.
