After twenty-minutes patiently staring at the scene of fashion-goers finding their seats at the Michael Kors runway show, various quotes slowly appeared on the screen.
Among “Feathers are Forever”, “Think Gossip Girl”, and “Your Closet Deserves a Little Color”, one quote in particular stood out from the rest.
“There is always going to be something to fall in love with”.
Perhaps Kors was alluding to the variety of Sixties and Seventies-inspired pieces lined up backstage, awaiting their New York Fashion Week debut.
From brightly colored fur coats and houndstooth patterns to metallic flower designs and ostrich fringe details, Kors simply had it all with his “no rules, no season, no time of day” collection. It was truly a modern mashup of the brown-toned styles that rocked the 1970s and the mod-cut silhouettes that dominated the ’60s.
The show kicked off with a model styled in a classic navy peacoat, sleek black loafers and jeans with lazer-cut fringe on the bottoms that swayed down the runway. The opening look was immediately followed by an oversized, camel-toned fur coat parading down the catwalk, showing the variation in the lineup to come.

The cocktail style design featured a classic halter shape on top and an a-line bottom that was pieced together with silver, circled details running up the chest and along the waist.

But of course, it’s not a Michael Kors collection without a classic trench style coat. The silhouette glided down the runway in different purple, blue, and gold-hued fabric, adding unexpected pops of color within the neutral lineup.
