The fall 2016 forecast calls for sheers, neutrals and a chance of stripes, according to Italian fashion designer, Francesca Liberatore.

For a third year in a row, Liberatore took New York Fashion Week by storm debuting her 2016 Autumn/Winter Ready-To-Wear collection. Following last season’s handcrafted, heart designs and feminine silhouettes that glided down the runway in “The Heart in the Center” collection, Liberatore left New York Fashion Week regulars wanting more.
One regular included world-renowned photographer, Nigel Barker, who fell in love with Liberatore’s designs the second they flowed down the runway last season.
“I had a rather awkward seat at the other end of the runway, but every picture I took of her clothes looked stunning and as a photographer I look for clothes that I could photograph and that read really well even from awkward positions,” said Barker. “The fact that every picture looked brilliant, I knew that I wanted to see more of her and so I asked to come back again.”

This season was certainly no exception with her European roots shining through each design. With its beautifully cut pieces, great attention to detail and an Italian sex appeal that many other American brands tend to lack, Liberatore’s lineup was simply stunning.
Body grazing silhouettes of sleek black and sheer material elegantly flowed down the runway revealing just the right amount skin for the fall season as the fluidity and motion of her feminine designs contrasted with the masculine sheer stripes strategically shaped into the letter “M”.

Pops of red, blue, and green colored scarves, jackets, and shirts added a pleasant twist to the rather neutral color palette dominating the show, while unexpected criss-cross details, patchworks of silk and chiffon, and symmetrically cut pieces of staggered silhouettes brought a sense of sensuality to the collection.

Some of the collection’s highlights include the closing look; an elegant black gown with a criss-cross halter as well as a silk cocktail dress layered with a beige-toned, fur collar, perfect the fall chill.

However, the greatest highlight was saved for the end as Liberatore’s models walked the finale holding drawings of historic women along with the names of various newspapers in front of their faces. The designers nod to history paired with her effortlessly elegant designs allowed the true beauty of Liberatore’s Italian-influenced style to shine through.
